Did you always aspire to be part of the automotive industry? Give us a brief history. My career started in the health and fitness industry - owning multiple health clubs. After I sold the clubs, a friend suggested I should go into the car business. Shortly after, I started selling cars at a Ford dealership in Sacramento, CA and it was a fit from day one!2. Describe your background. What did you study in school? Have you always lived in California?I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area, in a town called Los Gatos, and I studied Business and Real Estate in college. As a young man I moved to Southern California and worked as a stunt man. It was an incredible industry and a lot of fun but I knew my body wouldn’t keep up.3. What’s the most rewarding part of your career? The most rewarding part of my career is easy - it’s watching people achieve their professional goals. I love when I hear that one of my employees has bought a new home, or a new car, or simply taking care of their family.4. Are there any individuals that have inspired you over the years?Certainly! David Wilson has inspired me as I watch his leadership of our organization. I always admire how he treats people and makes everyone feel very valuable. My wife is certainly an inspiration to me as well, as she continues to do an incredible job raising our kids.5. What challenges have you faced? We all have challenges in our life - professionally and personally - and the car business is no exception. Our industry faces its own challenges from year to year, and manufacturer to manufacturer, not to mention that managing a large number of employees can be challenging. I embrace those challenges each day and am fueled with positive energy from stepping up to these challenges daily.6. Where do you think the auto industry is headed in the short term and the long term?I believe the Industry is headed in a very positive place because vehicles are built today better than ever and consumers have so many great choices. We as dealers will have to continue to get better at servicing and selling the myriad of vehicles. With the increase of choices to consumers, dealers must strive to be a trusted business. It is more important than ever, in fact I believe that consumers are willing to pay more for great service and transparency. I believe we will all adapt to any environment, as dealers are the most resilient entrepreneurs on the face of this earth.(Continued on page 8)7. What keeps you involved in OCADA? What inspired you to serve as a leader in the Association? What keeps me involved are the people - all the dealers on OCADA’s Board are volunteering to help make an impact in Orange County. Working with our Board members, I have learned a lot about how state and local government impacts the dealers and I want to continue to help guide us to advocate for a better business environment. When the dealer body works together, we really can accomplish significant goals – passage of AB 179 is a great example. 8. What will OCADA do to continue uniting dealers and strengthening the voice of the industry in the coming months? We will continue to reach out to our members so they can share with us the issues that you deal with in your communities and help advocate for you with our local and state governments. We will also continue to produce and improve the Orange County Auto Show and the SoCal Truck Show to spur customers to purchase their next new vehicle sooner from an Orange County dealer.9. What do you think makes OCADA membership invaluable? This is an easy question – OCADA membership is invaluable because of our members themselves. Dealers will always have a voice because with OCADA we can stand very united and strong together.10. Describe your all-time favorite ride - And what are you driving today? The beauty of being a Ford dealer is I get to drive my favorite ride each and every day, a F150 Raptor!11. Tell us about your family.I have a wonderful wife, Sarah and my two daughters, Sydney and Sofie, 17 and 11. I must also mention our French Bulldog Titus.12. What’s your favorite way to spend your free time? When I have spare time, I enjoy playing golf and I love riding bikes down the peninsula with my family.Lance, Soll & Lunghard, LLP | CPAs & Advisors | lslcpas.com | (714) 672-0022BreaSacramento“We have a fantastic relationship with the LSL team.
